Author Guidelines

• Submissions may be in either English or French.
• There is no set word limit, but those submissions under 7000 words are favoured.
• Please submit your text using size 12 pt, Times New Roman font.
• Use only one space (not two) in separating sentences within the text.
• Please provide a short abstract between 150-400 words attached to the beginning of the submitted paper. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.
• Use footnotes instead of endnotes. Notes should be indicated by consecutive superscript numbers in the text.
• Citations and bibliographies should follow either Chicago, MLA, APA or the French style of referencing, and be consistent throughout the paper. Ensure that bibliographies are properly formatted according to these standard referencing styles.
• Extended quotations (over 40 words) are to be set off clearly by being indented and single- spaced. Use double quotation marks for direct quotations, and single quotation marks for quotations within quotations, as well as for words or phrases used in a special sense.
• Any first-, second-, third-, and fourth-order section headings should be clearly distinguishable (bolded) and numbered (e.g., 1., 1.1, 1.1.1, 2.1, etc.).
• Please omit any page numbers that are used in your article.
• Please save your document as either an .rtf file or a Microsoft Word Document (.doc, not .docx). PDF files will not be accepted since minor errors cannot be edited properly with this format.
• Submissions will not be returned.
• Submissions not abiding by these guidelines may not be considered.

Upon submission, the author gives the right to Gnosis for any minor corrections in spelling, grammar, and/or formatting issues. If an article is accepted, and there are editing issues beyond the abilities of our editors (i.e., citation problems, ambiguous sentence structures, etc.), the author will be given the opportunity to re-submit the article with revisions. If such a case is granted, the author will be given one calendar week (7 days) from the date the article is returned in order to make the necessary corrections. Failure to re-submit within the 7-day allowance will result in a rejection for publication of the article, but may still be considered for the subsequent issue. Inability to fulfill this timeline will be evaluated according to each individual case, and should be addressed to the present Editor-in-Chief if such a possibility arises. Deadline for submissions are specified by the date of each Call for Papers that announced on the journal home page. All submissions received after the mentioned deadlines will be considered for the subsequent issue.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. The submission file is in, Microsoft Word (.doc not .docx) or RTF document file format.
3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Non-Exclusive License

By agreeing to the following terms during the submission process, authors or copyright owners grant to Gnosis a non-exclusive right to reproduce and/or make accessible their submission (including the abstract) worldwide in electronic format. Agreement is required before a submission can be uploaded to the site.

• You represent that the submission is your original work, or that you have the right to grant the rights contained in this license. You also represent that your submission does not, to the best of your knowledge, infringe upon anyone's copyright.
• If the submission contains material for which you do not hold copyright, you represent that you have obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner to grant Gnosis the rights required by this license. Any such third-party owned material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text or content of the submission.
• If the submission is based upon work that has been sponsored or supported by an agency or organization, you represent that you have fulfilled any right of review or other obligations required by the agreement with the sponsor.
• You understand that the Copyright Act of Canada, R.S.C. 1985, c C-42, as amended from time to time as well as any legislation which succeeds it, applies to your submission.

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

• Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication.
• Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
• Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.
